A growing number of the brides we dress want to wear a family heirloom saree for at least one function — and it is one of our favourite things to help style.

Start with an inspection. Older silk and zari can be more fragile than it looks; have it checked and, if needed, gently restored before deciding which function it is sturdy enough for.

Modernise the blouse. Pairing an heirloom saree with a contemporary blouse cut — a different neckline, sleeve length, or fabric — is the single easiest way to make it feel current without altering the saree itself.

Update the draping style. A heritage saree draped in a more modern, pre-pleated style instantly feels less "borrowed from another decade" while still honouring the original piece.

Let jewellery bridge the gap. Pairing an heirloom saree with your other, more contemporary trousseau jewellery keeps the overall bridal look cohesive across every function.
