Hand zardozi embroidery — the metallic thread and stone work you see across most of our bridal edit — is genuinely built to last generations, but only if it is stored and cleaned correctly.

Never fold zardozi pieces along the embroidered sections. Metallic thread work cracks and tarnishes at sharp fold lines over time. Roll heavily embroidered pieces in muslin cloth instead of folding them flat.

Keep pieces away from direct humidity and plastic covers — plastic traps moisture and accelerates tarnishing of the metallic thread. A breathable cotton or muslin garment bag is the safest storage choice.

Always dry clean, never machine or hand wash. Choose a dry cleaner experienced with zari and zardozi specifically, and flag any stone or sequin work so they can pre-treat it with care.

If you are planning to wear an heirloom piece for your own wedding, bring it in for a pre-wear inspection at least a month ahead — our tailoring team can reinforce loose threads or stones before they become a problem on the day.
